Chinese medicine is not only used for treating disharmony in the body (disease) but was historically used for prevention over cure.
At Radiant Chi we focus on nurturing life using ancient Chinese wisdom, to maintain the balance between yin and yang and support the body, mind and spirit.
Traditional Chinese medicine is an holistic primary health care system which has been practiced for over 2500 years. Its roots stem from Daoist philosophies that suggest that everything in the universe is part of an unbroken whole, where life arises from the interplay of opposites (Yin and Yang) and we can have a life of health and prosperity by observing nature and its natural cycles.
When our bodies are in harmony with our surroundings, we are healthy and there is an abundant supply of qi (pronounced chee/chi), which is our life force or energy that runs through an unseen network of meridians across the body. If the flow of qi becomes depleted or blocked the body fails to maintain harmony or balance and then disease and illness follows.
Chinese Medicine practitioners not only look at the presenting symptoms, but also other indicators of health, such as diet, lifestyle and emotional influences, appearance of the tongue and the strength and speed of the pulse. We can then understand the disease process and prescribe an individualised treatment plan to resolve the imbalances, which is continually monitored and amended until the desired health outcome is achieved.
Our goal at Radiant Chi is to promote wellness for the whole family. We care about helping all our patients reach their full potential, with optimal health in their demanding modern lifestyles. By finding balance of the mind, body and spirit, it allows individuals to be more present and calm for their families and the other aspects of their lives, which lead to healthier and happier adults and better communities.
Radiant Chi offers a service that is affordable in an environment that is comfortable, safe and relaxing. Families can take time to retreat, whilst our practitioners provide direction for the imbalances in the body, allowing it to carry out its own innate ability to heal and be protected from disease.
"Where there is no movement, there is pain.
Where there is movement, there is no pain.”
At Radiant Chi we offer a variety of treatment methods based on Chinese medicine philosophies that may provide relief for a wide range of chronic and acute health conditions.
An appointment involves a period of discussion with your practitioner about your presenting symptoms, health, lifestyle, diet and your general well-being. We then look at the tongue and take your pulse, we may also palpate areas of the body. Following this a Chinese medicine diagnosis is made and a treatment plan outlined which may include a combination of the following therapies which are all inclusive for the service fee. Herbal formulas are an additional cost to treatment. Treatment times and frequency can vary based on the condition being treated.
A key component of Chinese medicine and the most well-known form where sterile thin needles are gently and painlessly inserted into specific points of the body known as ‘acu-points’ to regulate and restore the flow of qi.
We also offer specialised facial acupuncture for vitality.
Another branch of Chinese medicine that uses therapeutic massage to work along the meridians and at acu-points to release blockages and restore the normal flow of qi in the body.
Sterile glass cups are applied to the body using heat that creates a suction on the patients skin to relieve stagnation in the body, improving the flow of qi across the body. Cupping can leave markings on the skin for up to a week after treatment.
A non-invasive Japanese paediatric acupuncture technique that that uses a metal instrument to touch the skin along the meridians and acu-points to restore and regulate the flow of qi. This is suitable for children and adults who have phobias of needles.
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called "moxa" are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences.
Chinese Herbal Formulas
One of the oldest forms of health care, using natural substances in the form of patented pills that regulate and normalise functions in the body.
A technique where a stone or porcelain spoon is used to scrape the surface of the skin to produce light bruising which releases unhealthy elements from the injured areas of the body to increase blood flow and improve healing.
